Stretching nearly two miles long on approximately 30 acres of land, the Leatherstocking Trail provides avid walkers, runners and nature enthusiasts with a beautiful respite from the typical day-to-day in Westchester County. Originally set to be a parkway in 1926, the undeveloped stretch of land, formerly known as the County Bridle Trail, was salvaged by local activists and groups after the 
establishment of the New England Thruway (I-95). With no need for another parkway, dedicated citizens and town officials saved the acreage, eventually developing it into trails for passive recreation.
