Sotheby’s Holds Space Exploration Auction

This past weekend, Sotheby’s did something extraordinary.

The legendary auction house held a Space Exploration auction  featuring a wide variety of material from the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions. The auction came on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission that successfully imprinted human-kind’s footprints on our moon

Among the items auctioned, three original, unaltered, NASA videotapes of the event sold for $1.82 million.

Check out a few of the objects that were auctioned, including a prototype spacesuit and a model of the Apollo Lunar Module signed by six moon-walkers. See the full results of the auction including selling prices here.
