The house owes you nothing and you owe nothing to the house. The home is what it is, and no apologies are needed. A lovely old farmhouse, with 60 acres, at the end of a quiet country lane, where you can look up at night and the stars are so bright you can see the Milky Way, and hear the peepers and the owls, and that's it.
