Ride with Us!

On your mark, get set…go! Team Sotheby’s has returned to the Connecticut Challenge for the fourth year in a row, this time with a new goal in mind—to have at least 50 bicycle wheel detail with blurry cyclistriders participate, and raise more than $50,000.  The popular, fund-raising bike ride event, which is celebrating its 12th year of great success, is organized by the Connecticut Challenge Center for Survivorship, a non-profit that provides assistance and resources for cancer survivors.

The event includes several cycling routes for riders to choose from ranging from 10 to 100 miles. Bike rides will begin from the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, Conn., on July 29 and 30th, 2016. Riding together as the unstoppable “Team Sotheby’s,” our dedicated staff members and agents are currently working to raise funds for the cause. All donations are welcome, and can be made online by visiting our team page here.

Participating members that are up for the “Team Sotheby’s” challenge this year include our President and CEO Paul Breunich, COO Vin Socci, President of BLT Paul Kuehner, as well as several brokerage managers, agents and staff members. Last year, the firm had 21 riders and raised more than $30,000 for the cause.

All proceeds from the ride will benefit the many survivorship programs offered through the Center, as well as research in exercise, nutrition and community support for cancer survivors. Most patients typically need follow-up care long after their treatment ends, but far too often stop receiving support at that time. This state-wide fundraiser is here to help end this, last year raising enough money to assist over 54,000 cancer survivors.

“This event is important to countless families in the community, and impacts many of us on more personal levels,” said Breunich. “People consistently ask, ‘Why do you ride?’—that question has become a real theme for this great organization. Some of us ride as survivors or in support of them, and others ride for the courageous battlers who succumbed to cancer and cannot ride with us today. We ride for them, in honor of them and because they would want us to promote the continued drive for a cure. We also ride to enable survivors and current battlers to be stronger, look to brighter days ahead and to understand the amount of support that always surrounds them.”

“Everyone has been touched by cancer on some level, either directly or through a friend or family member,” said Southport Brokerage Manager Brad Kimmelman, who is once again serving as the Team Sotheby’s captain.  “We now have an opportunity to help those either currently being treated, or those who have made it through and survived by participating in the CT Challenge Fundraising Bike Ride on July 30th. Thank you to everyone who has shown and continues to show their support as we strive to beat our own challenge, and reach this impressive new goal.”
