Rowayton, Conn. – April 20, 2017 – William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty announced today that the firm’s Rowayton brokerage will host an artist reception in collaboration with the 55th annual CCNS Art Show & Sale as part of the “Sundays at Sotheby’s” series, a monthly program in which the office welcomes new local art to display in its office. Regarded as one of the world’s leading marine artists, Rinaldo Skalamera will introduce his work on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 4-6 PM. The Rowayton office will serve as a preview stage for patrons of the CCNS Art Show, allowing all to come see Skalamera’s work prior to opening night.
Born in Croatia, Skalamera draws upon the picturesque surroundings of his homeland in many of his works. After moving to the United States, he continued to use his place of origin as inspiration, creating large scale studio paintings that exude first-hand experience for the viewer, welcoming them aboard his meticulously painted boats. A sense of drama combined with thorough research and attention to precise detail is present in his paintings, many of which have sold quickly into private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Croatia and Italy. Skalamera attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he studied fashion illustration and fine arts, and later furthered his studies at The Art Students League of New York. He is a permanent member of the American Society of Marine Artists, and has been the subject of a one-man show and numerous group shows at prestigious galleries throughout the U.S. and abroad. Skalamera currently resides and works in Fort Lee, N.J.
All paintings exhibited during the April 30th “Sunday’s at Sotheby’s” event will remain on display throughout the entire month. Skalamera is set to serve as the featured artist of the 55th annual CCNS Art Show & Sale, a popular community event offering one of the largest and most diverse collections of original artwork in the state of Connecticut. The show’s opening night gala will be held on Thursday, June 1st, with additional dates on June 2nd and 3rd at the Workshop of Black Bridge Motors, located at 314 Wilson Avenue, South Norwalk, Conn.
“Supporting the arts goes hand-in-hand with the very essence of the William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty brand,” said Darien agent Molly Crosland, who spearheads much of the brokerage’s artist series. “We are thrilled to help generate some excitement for the CCNS Art Show, while also showcasing the incredible talent of Rinaldo Skalamera.”
