Darien, Conn. (April 1, 2019) William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty announced today that the firm’s New Canaan brokerage agents Jack Trifero and Inger Stringfellow hosted a combination art show and property tour at a Darien home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright collaborator Arthur Holden, which the two agents are co-listing. The art exhibition featured the works of Sei Smith, and was held on March 31st.
On display were the works of the light-artist Sei Smith, a young artist gaining popularity in the New York City art scene. Smith’s work focuses on the relationships between light, color, shadow, and atmosphere and incorporates a unique, varying range of materials from plexiglass to paint skins. Smith, a former student of painting at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, shows his work nationally and internationally along with curating shows and events in New York City.
Sei Smith is an artist at the Ki Smith Gallery, a new studio that opened February of this year in West Harlem, right next to the Hudson River. The newly minted 1,200-square-foot space supports emerging artists and Ki Smith, the founder of the gallery, hosts shows to raise awareness and funds for a variety of causes. Regarding his studio, Smith told ARTnews, “The gallery will be dedicated to building long-lasting relationships with emerging artists. We will also use art as a tool to raise awareness and funds for causes and to give back to communities and nonprofits.”
The event provided the opportunity for prospective buyers to explore the property in an intimate setting. “Today, we saw a marriage of art and architecture and it was a great pleasure,” said New Canaan agent Jack Trifero, who represents the listing along with fellow New Canaan agent Inger Stringfellow. “We could not think of a better way to present this elegant, sophisticated home than alongside the vibrant, captivating works of Sei Smith.”
