Washington Depot, Conn. (August 18, 2017) — William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty agent Gael Hammer and Gary Goodwin, a home designer and space planner hosted the 20th annual “Tea for Two Hundred,” an event that helps raise money for the Gunn Historical Museum and Interfaith AIDS Ministry. The event was held on August 12th in Washington Depot, Conn.
In 1997 Gael Hammer, along with Ted Hine and John Trainor, instituted Tea for Two Hundred as a memorial to Gael’s partner Timothy Mawson and as a way to raise funds for AIDS awareness and other charities in western Connecticut.
Now in its 20th year, the event held at the beautiful gardens of Hammer and Goodwin is widely considered one of Litchfield County’s major social events of the season and draws hundreds of participants. Tea for Two Hundred has generated net proceeds approaching $1 million for area organizations.
This year’s event drew a crowd of 275 plus, and was attended by U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, who presented Hammer and Goodwin with citations of recognition for the event from the U.S. Senate. Tea for Two Hundred featured a silent auction that offered dining experiences, spectacular trips and spa packages. Those in attendance were able to revel in an afternoon of delicious food, wine and the music of Christine Ohlman, a vocalist for NBC’s Saturday Night Live Band.
“It’s been an honor to host this event for two decades,” Hammer said. “It was so great to see the community come out and support both of these wonderful charities. William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty was a corporate sponsor for this year’s event as well, and their support was greatly appreciated.”
