Company Contributes Over $30,000 to Relief Efforts
Fairfield, Litchfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London Counties, Conn., Westchester County, N.Y., and Berkshires, Mass. (May 8, 2015) —William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty today announced that the company is contributing over $30,000 to support relief efforts to Nepal in the wake of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake. The funds have been donated to AmeriCares, a nonprofit humanitarian organization that provides both immediate emergency response and long-term assistance programs for those in need all over the world. AmeriCares is a major participant of emergency relief efforts in Nepal.
William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty achieved its dollar amount goal just six days after announcing the initiative, pledging to match all donations up to $15,000. With ongoing donations from company agents and staff as well as the public through nepalrelief.williampitt.com reaching more than $15,000, the firm was able to contribute more than $30,000 to AmeriCares. Donations are still currently being accepted, bringing the most recent total amount to nearly $32,000.
“The outpouring of support we have received for the cause is truly incredible,” said Paul Breunich, President and Chief Executive Officer of William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty. “In just six days, we easily reached our fundraising goal, and donations just keep coming in. Thanks to the strong compassion and dedication of this extraordinary firm, we were able to help AmeriCares deliver tons of valuable supplies and resources to the victims of this devastating earthquake in Nepal. I am overwhelmed with pride and gratitude, and can’t thank our team enough for your outstanding efforts.”
AmeriCares has arranged for an initial emergency strategy of mobilizing medical teams to provide direct care for survivors, providing medicine and supplies to the frontline health workers and working with local health institutions to re-establish services. The massive earthquake, which took place on April 25, 2015, is the most powerful disaster to hit Nepal since the 1934 Nepal-Bihar earthquake, with over 7,500 fatalities and more than twice as many casualties reported thus far.
William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty has partnered with AmeriCares several times in recent years, participating in the organization’s humanitarian efforts in impoverished areas of Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua, as well as its work to assist those affected by Hurricane Sandy and the Philippines typhoon.
