Home of Award-Winning Animal Rescue Agency Co-Founder and President for Sale with William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty

Ridgefield, Conn. – March 19, 2018 – William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty announced today that the firm has listed for sale the home of Jody Harris-Stern, co-founder and president of the award-winning, volunteer-based, animal welfare organization Looking Glass Animal Rescue. The nonprofit group rescues dogs and other animals from perilous situations and cares for them while helping them find a permanent home. The house at 10 Saw Mill Hill Road is listed for $1,245,000 and is represented by Ridgefield agent Caren Harrington, also a co-founder of Looking Glass Animal Rescue.

Established in December 2015, Looking Glass Animal Rescue places the animals in approved foster homes after rescuing them, and then puts them up for adoption after first being medically treated and behaviorally assessed. To date the group has saved approximately 400 dogs and over 100 cats from euthanasia and deplorable living conditions. Recently, Looking Glass Animal Rescue was selected as a 2017 Best of Ridgefield recipient in the nonprofit organization category by the Ridgefield Award Program. Moving forward, the organization will continue to foster animals throughout the Northeast, maintaining a large Ridgefield presence. The group also has plans to expand into nearby New Hampshire as well.

This home has occasionally served as a foster house in the program. The house is a Nantucket-style residence that is privately set with views of distant mountains and features five bedrooms with four full bathrooms and three half baths. High-end finishes by Reed Whipple include intricate crown moldings, wainscoting and Brazilian cherry floors. There’s also a mahogany front porch, beautiful blue stone patios and multiple fireplaces. The gourmet kitchen includes custom cabinetry with Carrara marble countertops and a custom granite farmhouse-style sink.

On the lower level of the home there’s a media room, exercise room and a playroom. The walk-up attic adds an additional 700 square feet of space that can be utilized for storage or additional living space. The attic can also be fitted for an additional full-sized bathroom.

“Looking Glass Animal Rescue has been able to help so many animals over the past three years and looks forward to helping many more as time goes by,” said Harrington. “I am very excited to work with Jody, the co-founder of our organization on the sale of the home, and I’m confident the next family that inhabits this wonderful property will write the next chapter.”
