Our Litchfield brokerage has been busy giving back with their recent participation in the Litchfield County Board of REALTORS® annual “REALTORS® have a Heart for Kids” fundraiser program, held in February. Through this charity, generous donations are given to the foster care system in Litchfield County, Conn., providing useful items to help local foster children transition into new home environments.
REALTORS® Have a Heart for Kids was established in 2006 by Public Relations Committee members of the Litchfield County Board of REALTORS®. After hearing about the longstanding program “Suitcases for Kids,” part of a national effort to help provide resources for children in foster care with the donation of suitcases, Litchfield County board members became interested in contributing to the cause. The local REALTORS® organization contacted various agencies to learn more, discovering that they had many donated suitcases with nothing to put in them. With this in mind, board members set out to complement the suitcase charity’s efforts, providing the Department of Children and Families (DCF) with gift cards to purchase necessary items at stores such as Wal-Mart, Stop & Shop and Kmart. With these contributions, suitcases can be filled by DCF with clothing, health and beauty products, toys, personal items, and other comforts in preparation for each child’s transition into a new environment.
This year, the firm’s Litchfield brokerage had total participation, with all brokerage agents contributing to the cause.
“This year’s efforts in supporting this worthy local charity proved to be a great success,” said Matthew Day, manager of our Litchfield brokerage. “With 100% agent participation, it’s quite clear that our team is a passionate and determined group, with common community goals in mind. I am proud of our brokerage’s generosity, and commend everyone for their outstanding devotion to this annual community cause.”
Great work, Litchfield team!
