The unofficial start to summer is finally here! This Memorial Day weekend, take advantage of all the opportunities your community has to offer. From parades and services to public beaches and some good old-fashioned fun, Westchester County has it all. So break out those shades and grab family and friends—here are a few weekend highlights to enjoy around town. 
Beach Bummin’ It Memorial Day marks the official opening of various public beaches throughout Westchester. The following beaches are open on weekends and Memorial Day starting today!
- Playland Park in Rye
- Glen Island Park in New Rochelle
- Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson

Fun & Games If you’re from Westchester County, there’s nothing better than spending time at Rye Playland—a classic local landmark in town. This weekend, enjoy food, games and rides at the park beginning today at 5 PM, through Monday. Ride the Dragon Coasters and be sure to take a spin on the Grand Carousel, which turns 100 years old this year! Then on Sunday, May 24th, pay tribute to our veterans and service members with a special ceremony at 11:45 AM, and later experience an afternoon Marine Helicopter Raid Demo at 2 PM. Honor the Red, White and Blue This weekend, be sure to take a moment to thank all who have served our country, past, present and in the future. From parades and memorial services to other military tributes, there are lots of ways to show your appreciation around town. Memorial Day Bites We all know that Memorial Day weekend wouldn’t be complete without food.
