We recently sponsored the Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Sales, which achieved the highest sales total in Sotheby’s auction house history! The auction yielded $474.3 million, with the Evening Auction of Contemporary Art reaching a record sales total of $380,642,000 and the Day Auction reaching $93,635,625. Andy Warhol’s painting “Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster)” was the highest selling painting at $105,445,000, setting an auction record for the artist.
The event took place in Manhattan on November 9-13 and consisted of a private preview, a brunch reception, exhibition, and various auctions. Representatives were also invited to a brunch reception, and hosted a desk showcasing the company’s services before auction attendees.
This event was not only a fun way to network with our affiliated Sotheby’s art counter-part, but it was also an added bonus to our marketing strategy. As a sponsor both William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty received a number of marketing benefits including an onsite display of the brand’s logo and the company’s listings as well as a brand advertisement in the auction house’s Contemporary Paintings catalogs.
“Sotheby’s International Realty maintains an enduring relationship with the Sotheby’s auction house that grants us unique opportunities for unmatched exposure,” said GiGi Melillo, our manager from the Darien and Rowayton brokerages. “Participation in high-profile events like the Contemporary Art Sales is just one example of how our brand benefits from this exclusive association. The event allowed our attending agents to network with Sotheby’s qualified clientele and expose our properties and services before a qualified audience of potential purchasers and sellers.”
