Stratford

Stratford is one of the eastern-most towns along Connecticut’s Gold Coast.

Founded in 1639 by Puritans, the town is rich in both history and natural beauty. Situated along Long Island Sound at the mouth of the Housatonic River, Stratford is the home of Sikorsky Aircraft, which employs several thousand people and is situated at the base of Exit 53 of the historic Merritt Parkway. The town offers an abundance of natural resources. The 250-acre Roosevelt Forest at Stratford’s north end is known for its extensive walking trails, and the Great Salt Marsh is a popular area for bird watchers and nature lovers as it has become a key bird migration stopover. Five uninhabited islands in the Housatonic River are also part of Stratford, which comprises an area of just under 20 square miles. Stratford town services include police and fire departments. The Stratford train station provides access to Grand Central in about 80 minutes. Stratford is about a 45-minute drive from Stamford.
