Michael McGuirk

Licensed Real Estate Salesperson

A chimney sweep. I got my first taste of working with real estate agents by sweeping chimneys. Summers were spent working for my father’s roofing and contracting company where he had me cleaning fireplaces, capping flues, and everything in between. His strong relationships with real estate agents made me keenly aware of two very important things. The first was that a good real estate agent is very hands-on, either getting everything ready for a house to be sold or having it thoroughly inspected for purchase. The second was that the best real estate agents are the ones staying on top of things, working well with all parties to make sure deals come together on time.

Having grown up in NJ, where my family resided for over 40 years, I knew when my wife and I drove down Main Street we would soon be calling Ridgefield our home. It was a reminder to Amanda of her childhood in the midwest and a mirror image of my hometown of Chatham. A return for both of us to our roots and to planting our own, but also to a sense of neighborhood and community which we both quickly learned are very strong in this area.

Before moving to Connecticut I lived smack dab in the middle of NYC. While there, I had a leadership role in the hospitality industry where I spent close to 20 years with a multi-million dollar company. It was this high-pressure and fast-paced environment that prepared me to have the ability to adapt quickly to constant changes and new challenges. A hands-on education that I am able to carry over to the ever-changing demands in today's real estate market.

I pride myself on being easy to talk to. I am personal, engaging, a great listener and communicator. With me, no stone is unturned as I aim to be one step ahead. I utilize strong communication and multi-tasking skills to help you achieve your goals. It is important for me to put people at ease during what can sometimes be a daunting task of buying or selling a home. For me, that is simply helping to take away the unknown. I have a genuine desire to help you find everything that you want by translating your buying or selling needs into a reality. Whether you are first-time homebuyers or seasoned clientele, I enjoy making the process easier of achieving your dreams through real estate.

Some other unique things about me...My other job in NYC was in the entertainment business. I’ve been on the small screen, the big screen, and have been seen or been the voice in over 50 commercials. I also spent time as the Cobra/Puma golf spokesperson “Regular Guy” where I shot a bunch of ads but most importantly shaved seven strokes off my handicap. A trained singer, I have performed all over the country and still can be heard in the shower belting out any Sinatra hit that is going on in my head. I have been a member of SAG, Actor’s Equity as well as the Dramatists Guild. I attended Penn State University but finished my degree in NY at York College where I graduated summa cum laude - which despite my three years of Latin in grade school I still need Google to translate.

My mother was born in England and my father in Ireland. Both instilled in me the importance of character, tradition, and dependability which the William Pitt / Sotheby's International brand holds. My experience with Sotheby’s began before I started working with them as they were the seller’s agent for my current house. I experienced firsthand how they put the client and the client’s needs first and foremost. It was a lasting impression and one that I wanted to be a part of.

Currently, my wife and I are loving our life in Ridgefield. She is a full-time makeup artist, we are both taking an active role in the community, and happily raising two rescue dogs: our pug-tzu “Hattie” and our shorkie “Lucy”. I love talking sports, am an avid fan, and even though I have my favorite teams I always find myself rooting for the underdogs. In my spare time, you can find me trying out new recipes in the kitchen, planning out my next DIY project, convincing myself that I know how to take care of my lawn & garden, or binging on HGTV shows.

Michael is on the Board of The Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Ridgefield Lions Club, and also very active with ACT of CT where he recieved a Broadway World Nomination for his role in "Jesus Christ Superstar"
