Litchfield

The town of Litchfield is the county seat, just 55 miles from Bradley International Airport and two hours from New York City. The quintessential New England town is defined by its historic district, which includes important original 18th-century homes that line both North and South Main Streets. An abundance of specialty retail shops, art and antique galleries, and fine restaurants line the beautiful Green. There are numerous equestrian farms as well as agricultural farms in town as well.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find much to do at the 4,000-acre White Memorial Conservation Center including hiking and mountain biking, or cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Gardening enthusiasts know that White Flower Farm, widely regarded as a prime source for plants and bulbs, is located here too. Litchfield is also home to the country’s oldest law school as well as the Lourdes Shrine, Topsmead State Forest and a portion of Bantam Lake.
