Karen Curtis is a native of Fairfield Country, born and raised here, rarely moving too far for too long from her roots. Her career began as a high school English teacher, loving working with the energy and enthusiasm of the students. From there, she entered the world of sales by managing a retail store, where the skills of listening, and customer service led to many successful relationships. While juggling the demands of a sales career, motherhood and volunteering for various local organizations, another venue of interest arose. Land use, zoning regulations and town planning were important in her town. Therefore, after campaigning and winning, Karen was elected to the local planning and zoning commission. Having knowledge of local zoning ordinances, land use requirements and conservation regulations is very beneficial in the day to day work of a realtor. Karen combined the critical elements of these varied interests and became a successful realtor over 30 years ago. Not only does Karen enjoy the process of listening to the needs and wants of her clients, but also the transactional requirements of analysis, marketing and negotiating. Her calmness and sensibility smooth the sometimes anxiety-ridden process, while she encourages her clients to relax, while she does her work.
