Darien, Conn. – February 23, 2017 – William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty announced today that the firm’s Darien and Rowayton brokerages are set to hold two exciting art events this weekend. The Darien brokerage will host its second artist reception in collaboration with the Arts Department of Darien High School. The office will support the school’s arts program by showcasing the work of student artists with monthly debuts and installations throughout the year, as well as provide the opportunity for students to visit the Sotheby’s Auction House in New York City. The exhibit will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 2-4 PM in the company’s Darien brokerage, located at 1057 Post Road in Darien, Conn. Immediately to follow, the firm’s nearby Rowayton office at 147 Rowayton Avenue will also be hosting an artist reception from 4-6 PM, as part of the “Sundays at Sotheby’s” series, a monthly program in which the brokerage welcomes new local art to be displayed in its office. Local artist Evan Seide will introduce his work through the month of March.
In addition to displaying students’ work, a tour of the Sotheby’s auction house is being discussed for students. This visit will allow for exposure to some of the world’s most notable art, antiques, jewelry and collectibles, along with a glimpse at the art auction business. Sotheby’s, with its centuries-old global reputation in the valuation and sale of fine possessions, is the world’s premier auction house.
The Rowayton event will feature the work of Evan Seide, a New England-based artist and designer, who practices in many disciplines, including film, commercial and live theatre. Over his 15-year career as an artist and designer, he has completed numerous imaginative pieces in a variety of genres and mediums. Seide has experience as a production designer, art director, prop master, set designer, lighting designer, carpenter, scenic and several other roles. He also has extensive training in media such as acrylic, stained glass, wood and ink.
“With a strong connection to the world-class Sotheby’s auction house, our brand has a rich history of art,” said William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty Darien brokerage manager Lynley Middleberg. “We are a team dedicated to our community, and intend to continue this longstanding artistic tradition by celebrating great talent at a local level with events like these.”
During the February 26th exhibits, which are both open to the public, refreshments will be served. A number of the featured student artists as well as teaching staff from Darien High School will also be present to discuss their work in Darien, while artist Evan Seide will be available at the firm’s Rowayton brokerage.
