William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty Agents Donna Membrino and Kim D’Andrea Handle Record Sale of Bantam Lake Estate

Morris, Conn. – January 31, 2017 – William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty announced today that the firm recently handled the highest sale ever recorded for a property on Bantam Lake, Connecticut’s largest natural lake. The contemporary Colonial estate, located at 10 Evans Passway, was built by the seller, David Geremia, a former Porsche racecar driver and inventor, in collaboration with local architect Drexel Yeager. Litchfield agent Donna Membrino represented the seller and Kim D’Andrea the buyer in the record $3.4 million sale, which beat the previous record of $2,805,000 set in 2009.

“We are proud to be involved in this record-breaking sale on Bantam Lake,” Membrino and D’Andrea stated. “The estate is remarkably stunning in every sense. Upon entrance, you are immediately drawn to a full, unobstructed view of the water, and surrounded by incredible architectural design.”

Geremia has a unique background as both a professional Porsche racecar driver and an inventor, but is most well known for his “Owl” invention. The Owl is a credit card-sized magnifying glass with LED light that is commonly used for reading menus in dark restaurants. Geremia comes from a family of inventors, his own grandfather having invented the windshield wiper.

The 7,925 square-foot home, built in 2003, contains many unique features including murals throughout by renowned faux painter Sharon Leichsenring, who was once named the number one decorative painter in the United States by American Painting Contractors magazine. The residence is also recognized in publications as being one of the top “smart” homes in the country. The innovative estate offers a Lutron system, indoor/outdoor CDR music system, a weather station and more. In addition, it boasts four bedrooms, six and a half baths, an open floor plan complete with a fully equipped cook’s kitchen, and walk-out lower level. This 1,500 square-foot area of extra space offers a brick and barrel wine tasting room and second kitchen/bar that opens to a large family room featuring one of six gas fireplaces.

Other standout features include granite countertops, a four-stop elevator to a bell tower ideal for sunbathing, hidden closets, movable walls, pocket doors, a custom home theater, indoor gym and sauna, as well as an outdoor hot tub. The property also offers boat docking capabilities and ample parking space for up to eight cars.
