Darien, Conn. – January 17, 2017 – William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty announced today that the firm’s Darien brokerage will host an artist reception in collaboration with the Arts Department of Darien High School. The office will support the school’s arts program by showcasing the work of student artists with monthly debuts and installations throughout the year, as well as provide the opportunity for students to visit the Sotheby’s Auction House in New York City. The first exhibit will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 3-6 PM in the company’s Darien brokerage, located at 1057 Post Road in Darien, Conn.
Darien High School ranks among the top 15 schools in the state of Connecticut, according to U.S. News & World Report and additionally reported by Hearst Media. In the past, several students of the school’s arts program have gone on to achieve successful art careers.
This November, the Darien Arts Department held its annual student art show at Upper Crust Bakery and Cafe in downtown Darien. Seeing such talent on display, as well as both the students’ and community’s enthusiasm for their work, spurred interest in the firm’s Darien brokerage to also support these gifted students. Having established an appreciation for fine art at the firm’s Rowayton brokerage with its monthly Sundays at Sotheby’s art series, it seemed only natural to bring a similar celebration to the Darien office, according to William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty’s Darien brokerage manager Lynley Middleberg.
“A rich history of art appreciation is embedded in our core,” said Middleberg. “We share an incredible relationship with the world-renowned Sotheby’s Auction House, and recognize that this connection to art and history are wonderful opportunities that can, and should, be shared. Something beautiful happens when art and real estate intersect, and we invite you to come and see for yourself.”
The firm’s enduring and exclusive relationship with the Sotheby’s Auction House will provide the students of Darien High School with exposure to some of the world’s most notable art, antiques, jewelry and collectibles, along with a glimpse at the art auction business. Sotheby’s, with its centuries-old global reputation in the valuation and sale of fine possessions, is the world’s premier auction house.
During the upcoming January 22nd showcase event, which is open to the public, refreshments will be served. A number of the featured student artists as well as teaching staff from Darien High School will also be present to discuss their work.
