Home for the Holidays

By Megan Montemarano

There’s a certain sparkle during this time of year. Whether in a child’s eye on Christmas morning, a festive holiday party, or brilliantly lit tree or menorah in the window of a decorated home, the glowing, light-filled warmth during the holiday season is undeniable, making every day merry and bright. Here’s a roundup of holiday-inspired residences that embrace the joyous spirit of the season both inside and out, reminding us that there is, indeed, no place like home for the holidays.

111 Lookout Drive South—Fairfield, Conn.

This stately brick Georgian, built circa 1920, turns heads with its striking beauty all year round. During the holidays, however, lucky passersby may have to pause a moment to truly digest the charming scene before them. The seven-bedroom home welcomes visitors with classic icicle lights strung above the first-floor windows and a fully lit tree resting atop its front porch awning. As if that isn’t enough, hanging snowflake lights are subtly placed on trees near the home’s entrance, and yet another decorated tree, this one in the residence’s entertainment-friendly living room, is visible through the front window. Inside, the main staircase features a festively arranged garland that sweeps all the way upstairs to effortlessly lift your spirits with a bit of holiday cheer.

The Residences at 66 High Street—Guilford, Conn.

The Residences at 66 High Street consists of a full renovation of a 130-year-old mill building, meticulously built by the award-winning Horton Group to maintain its original roots. The now residential structure keeps its locally recognized exterior largely intact, while boasting luxurious townhouse interior styles with modern design and upscale amenities. The magnificence continues during the holiday season, the development greeting visitors with front entrance trees that have been lined with white lights. All units at High Street are also decorated with wreathes. A few interiors boast festive décor as well, providing the ideal setting for a special holiday happy hour that was recently hosted at the site. “It was a wonderful event for all neighbors, town employees, residents, open house attendees and local Realtors,” said co-listing agent Nikki Travaglino, who represents the residences with fellow Guilford agents Peter W. Cowie and Anne Scandone. “Over 130 in total people attended, and we even had live music—the perfect way to welcome in the holiday season, and introduce this incredible development to the community.”
