New Leaders, New Success for the Larchmont Chamber of Commerce

The Larchmont Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Carolyn Fugere, manager of our Larchmont brokerage, as the organization’s new president, and has since seen nothing but great success. Now thriving with a total of 51 members and three new Board of Directors, the Larchmont Chamber of Commerce is truly a dynamic group ready to foster a stronger local economy for its beloved Larchmont community.

The Larchmont Chamber of Commerce has been working to support the local economy through Shop Larchmont, New York Business and other community events since 1946.  Chamber membership is open to all merchants, restaurants, professionals, non-profits and anyone doing business in the Larchmont area. Together, members of the organization and the board including Drew Geroge, Sanjiv Jaswal, Dan Walden, Nancy White and brand new directors Theresa Finck, Megan McCarthy, Diana Schwatka and Carolyn Fugere, continually find growth strategies aiming to sustain the small businesses and opportunities that keep this Westchester County village so full of life. Since the arrival of Fugere, the Larchmont Chamber of Commerce has already experienced an immense increase in both membership and positive community buzz.

“The diversity on the board has expanded greatly over the last year,” said Sanjiv Jaswal, a board member on his second year as Membership Chair and a financial planner with the Prudential Insurance Company of America. “And now with Carolyn from the real estate industry as president, combined with a recent increase in the membership of other professional and many service-driven businesses, the Chamber’s expanding base is even more diverse in its structure.  As a result, the group currently has such great energy and enthusiasm of which I am proud to be a part.”

The organization’s most recent efforts took place right in time for the holidays, where Fugere used her few short weeks since joining to plan a local shopping campaign perfect for the busy shopping season.  “Show Your ‘Shop Local’ Spirit” encouraged participants to shop or dine in the area for the holidays and snap a “selfie” for the chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree to use at any Larchmont Chamber Member’s establishment.  All 150 entries were shared on the Larchmont Chamber of Commerce website and Facebook page, and a drawing was later held. The winner of the campaign, Simon Sikorski, accepted his prize on December 29th at Mancino Custom Tailors and Clothiers, where he snapped his “selfie” to enter.

“It was a great promotion and a wonderful idea,” said Mary Ann Mancino, owner of Mancino Custom Tailors and Clothiers. “I look forward to more fun events sponsored by the new, energetic Chamber.”

“The campaign, which was accomplished in quite the short amount of time, was such a great success,” said Fugere. “I’m truly thrilled to be a part of the Larchmont Chamber of Commerce, and am thankful for all the recent support and interest in our local efforts.  Not only has our membership skyrocketed, but everyone seems to be talking about this little organization that does so much.”
