Our goal at Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty is to deliver our buyers and sellers not only the highest level of service, but also our expert knowledge on the local areas in which we operate. To that end, we have launched an ongoing series of webisodes we call Best Address, in which we highlight significant businesses in our communities in addition to the fascinating entrepreneurs behind them. We are excited to post the newest episode in the series and invite you to come with us as we visit the lovely coastal town of Rye, New York. Here we introduce Ruby’s Oyster Bar and Bistro, an outstanding restaurant reminiscent of a charming bistro in Paris. This chic yet casual establishment has been serving Rye for nearly twelve years, and we are proud to spotlight it on Best Address.
Watch as our host Ana Berry joins the restaurant’s co-owner, Lisa McKiernan, to discuss the cuisine and decor. The inspiration for Ruby’s is reflected on the menu, which features a variety of classic bistro items like the steak frites, sautéed calves liver and escargots with garlic butter, as well as standout selections such as the barbeque salmon, pan-roasted grouper with Mediterranean cous cous and goat cheese salad. Of course, the raw bar is another enormous draw, offering the freshest oysters, mussels, clams, shrimp and lobster. Locals also know to try Ruby’s fabulous Sunday brunch for its wild mushroom and onion frittata, brioche French toast, Irish oatmeal and many other choices, as well as its excellent wine list.
The owners paid careful attention to the ambiance in the restaurant’s design, adding signature elements including an authentic zinc bar crafted in Paris, red leather banquettes for seating, beautiful beaded chandeliers, coffered ceilings, and a marble mosaic floor. The summertime sidewalk café tables add to the bistro feel. The décor and delicious entrees have made Ruby’s a mainstay for both the business lunch crowd and the evening bar crowd, and the restaurant is open for breakfast as well. An upstairs room provides plenty of space for an office party or family event, accommodating up to 35 people. In short, this restaurant in the heart of downtown Rye is a wonderful discovery for those who haven’t yet experienced its numerous fine offerings.
