Not only is our company known for our commitment to the communities in which we operate, but also for giving back, donating time and financial support to important causes and organizations. We are now providing that support to AmeriCares, a non-profit humanitarian organization that specializes in disaster relief, long-term assistance for those in need around the globe, and emergency response. Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty is thrilled to provide our agents and staff with the opportunity to participate in AmeriCares’ Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Fund, which will help victims of the recent storm.
Our three partner firms will match each contribution made by our employees and sales professionals from now through the end of the year, up to $50,000. 98% of these donations will go straight toward AmeriCares’s relief efforts, and can be submitted by clicking on www.americares.org/williampitt. The fund, which has already made a measurable impact in the lives of many of Sandy’s victims, provides the means for the organization to send emergency medical services, bottled water and relief supplies to those in need in especially devastated areas, such as communities within New Jersey, Connecticut and the New York City boroughs of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. From neighbors and colleagues to family and friends, we are pleased to give our agents and staff the chance to help.
Our company has a history of giving back, for we recognize that it is an essential part of the lives of the individuals who make up our company. Most recently we were involved with another AmeriCares initiative, helping the organization to offer humanitarian and medical assistance to the poor in Guatemala, which comprises more than half of the country’s residents. We raised about $35,000 for that endeavor, and those who donated were also part of a raffle that gave selected agents the opportunity to actually visit the country themselves and witness the difference their contributions make. Visiting homes for children, hospitals and clinics, several agents found the trip deeply moving. We feel fortunate that our company has so many agents and staff members who are so caring and giving to organizations like AmeriCares, which are vital in parts of the world where there work is most needed. We sincerely hope that our contributions to the hurricane fund can do some small part toward making a difference for those most afflicted by the storm.
